East Sussex Healthcare Upgrades to Secure Access

David Lloyd:
The Trust currently serves around 500,000 people within the Sussex area. We have about seven and a half thousand users that we support. They're in a mix of two key two sites, three or four community hospitals, community clinics, homeworkers and district nurses who are having to travel around different places.

David Lloyd:
Yes, security is key. Obviously being within the NHS, we have a lot of compliance that we have to meet in terms of dealing with patient data. That's always the key thing and it's making sure that that patient data is secure and accessible by the people who need to access it.

David Lloyd:
Any products that we do bring into the Trust have to meet those levels of security and we have to ensure that they are accessible and usable. We trust PulseSecure a lot and they're a proven product. They've been in the marketplace for quite some time now and they build a product that really does what we need it to do in a secure manner.

David Lloyd:
We've got a lot of people with a variety of technical knowledge and we have to ensure that they can get to the data they need without having to jump through too many hoops, without being overcomplicated. We can provide access for our own users who are at home or in another government organization. We can provide access for our third party suppliers in a way that we've not been able to do before and still meet the security requirements that we have.

David Lloyd:
So our remote access users are seeing an improvement in performance over the previous service that we had. It's a lot quicker. It's a lot more usable for them. We can provide remote connectivity for users on a variety of different environments that we've not been able to do before. We can support Windows, Linux, OS 10, Android even. We've got a lot of products now that are coming out, a lot of systems that require iPad usage.

David Lloyd:
They're extremely functional. When we were first assessing our requirements, we looked to a few different vendors. Some of them did a few things very well, few of them not so great. PulseSecure did everything we needed, really, really well. The configuration within it, the logging, the monitoring. We've got a lot of control over what we can do.

David Lloyd:
We've found cost savings have come about in a variety of ways and our users are now able to self remediate a lot of their own problems that we've had in terms of our management as well. We can now react a lot quicker to requirements that are needed and adding additional services in is very, very easy using the PulseSecure platform. We can also now provide functionality for the new projects. We're currently moving to a digital record service, which requires a clinical iPad to be brought in, and actually, we can now provide connectivity for our consultants and doctors from the home environment to get into the hospital systems and provide that patient care that might not have been there before. Security is definitely a key
